The Problem
Extensive cracking within external brickwork due to expansion (rusting) of internal steel frame.
The Solution
This jet engine test facility had suffered severe cracking, previously repaired by the application of large angled steel plates externally. These were superseded by the installation of bed joint reinforcement to crack stitch, and the formation of masonry beams, (‘Helibeams’), over large openings. Cracking was injected with resin to limit further penetration of water into the structure.
