The Problem

Differential settlement requiring partial underpinning followed by structural repair and specialist re-decoration.

The Solution

Heavily reinforced base and beam underpinning system installed within basement under difficult access conditions. The discovery of dry rot required extensive repair work in addition to the internal and external crack repair. Bed joint masonry reinforcement was incorporated throughout the six storey rear elevation, together with pinning techniques which addressed the cracking, distortion and delamination of the solid brick walls. The entire rear elevation was re-pointed using traditional hydraulic lime mortars.

Following internal repair, which included the reproduction of damaged dado and cornice mouldings, substantial redecoration was undertaken, including hand applied graining to the four storey stairwell walls, and the application of specially made, unique photo-reproduced wallcovering.
