20 Nov New Service — Hire Piling Rigs From Us in London and the Home Counties
Piling is an invaluable technique in construction, whether for a new build or for strengthening an existing structure. The problem, though, is that the equipment is expensive, and you only need to use it occasionally. Your budget might not stretch to buying something that isn’t going to be in constant use.
If you operate in London or the Home Counties, however, this is no longer a problem. U&M has now started hiring out a wide range of piling rigs.
Why Hire a Piling Rig?
Piling as a construction technique has been around for a long time, but it used to be mainly associated with major projects, such as bridges, oil rigs or railways. With the development of mini-piling, however, equipment has become practical for use in smaller contexts, such as domestic housing.
The most common use for mini-piling is to either create or reinforce a building’s foundations, although it can also be used to stabilise slopes or create retaining walls for a basement. It’s now the method of choice for underpinning foundations, as it’s far quicker, cheaper and less disruptive than the traditional methods.
However, although much cheaper than the older-style large piling rigs, a mini-piling rig is an expensive piece of equipment. Add to this that different jobs may require different equipment, and it makes sense to hire the rig for a specific job, rather than paying out to buy it.
Hiring a Piling Rig from U&M
U&M has been offering piling services to customers for many years, but we’ve just launched our piling rig hire service for contractors. We supply a range of rigs that can access restricted spaces.
Some of these can fit through a standard door and operate in heights as little as little as 2.3 meters, while others are designed to operate in tunnels and basements. We also provide grout pumps, concrete agitators and augurs — a full range of the equipment on offer can be found here.
If you feel confident operating these yourself, we’re happy to hire you the rig on its own. However, using specialist equipment can be a steep learning curve. If required, we’ll also provide highly trained and experienced operators, who can use the rig more efficiently, leading to higher productivity and fewer errors.
Why Is Hiring a Piling Rig a Great Option?
Besides cutting out the need for a large initial investment, there are a number of big advantages to hiring a piling rig over buying one.
- We take care of all the routine maintenance and repair costs — which can build up.
- You have access to a wide range of equipment, without having to buy one of each.
- You save on the costs and logistic issues of storing and transporting the equipment.
- If you only need the equipment for a one-off project, hiring is considerably cheaper than buying.
